NEMS Open Channel Flow Workshop

The National Environmental Monitoring Standard for Open Channel Flow was released in June 2013. The document details methods for measuring discharge in open channels in New Zealand, and can be found here
The purpose of this workshop is to discuss changes to the document from the last review, answer questions and consider industry feedback from users with a particular focus on the following:
• QRev for moving boat ADCP gaugings
• Possible introduction of new methods to the standard i.e. Dilution
• Provide a summary of the gauging uncertainty study
Workshop Programme
The workshop will take place on Tuesday 5 and Wednesday 6 September.
Day One - Tuesday 5 September: 10am start
Overview of the standard
Uncertainty calculations for area velocity gaugings
Using QRev for moving boat gaugings
Dealing with edge estimates and what it means in the various software packages
Extending the standard to include Dilution Gauging
Day Two - Wednesday 6 September: finish approx 4pm
A facilitated session to generate feedback on the existing standard.
Who should attend?
If your organisation measures discharge in open channels in New Zealand, we recommend at least one person from your organisation attends.
